The University of Burgos is a public university located in the city of Burgos, in the north-central region of Spain.
It was founded in 1994 and has since become a well-respected institution known for its commitment to high-quality education and research. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs to its 8,000 students and has a strong focus on internationalization, with many courses taught in English and numerous exchange programs held with universities around the world. The University of Burgos’ research centers and institutes are recognized both nationally and internationally, and the university has a strong track record of collaborating with businesses and other organizations to bring innovations to the market.
What was UBU looking for?
UBU's face-to-face language courses met most of the needs of the public. However, as the years went by, new training needs arose that did not fit in the face-to-face format. For some time, different ways were explored to provide training online to people within and outside UBU. This, together with the context provided by the COVID pandemic, led UBU to make a massive commitment to online language training in March 2020. Since then, the number of projects related to online language training has increased steadily. This has enabled UBU to reach a wider audience and respond to more training needs.
UBU was looking for:
- An online language training tool that was suitable for a great number of different audiences and teaching methods.
- A tool to assess students.
What Altissia Provided
Altissia offered an “E-Learning For All” project for students and staff at the University of Burgos including:
- The Language Assessment
- The Language Course Platform in 24 study languages (A1-C1 levels – personalized learning paths – free navigation mode – “News” section)

What was the impact and results of Altissia’s solutions at UBU?
- Since September 2021, more than 1,400 learners have been improving their foreign language levels by studying with Altissia’s platform.
- Free language training initiatives for UBU’s 4th year and master's students using Altissia’s platform attract more than 500 learners every year.
- Altissia's online tests have allowed us to assess students from all over the world.
- On average, 750 language assessments are taken by UBU learners each year.
